Friends of the Ste-Cécile church of Acquigny

The Association «Les amis de l’église Ste-Cécile d’Acquigny» was founded in 2006 (published in the Official Gazette on 11 November 2006). Its objectives are «to discover, promote and restore the Sainte-CĂ©cile church of Acquigny».
The Association works alongside the public, businesses and the local authority. It conducts wide-reaching communications to raise awareness of the wonders of this Ste-Cécile church, so that they may continue to inspire future generations.
The aim is to keep alive the legacy of the founding work of President Le Roux d'Esneval, who died in 1788 — a work «which – at that time – (cf. study by Nicolas Trotin, Historian) from a purely artistic point of view, attracted artists and brought about a renewal of Norman art, kept in permanent and fruitful dialogue with the innovations of a capital city that dictated its aesthetic and artistic standards. This President who, in his own way, was a missionary armed with a trowel and a paintbrush.»
The Association offers guided tours (see Contact) — by phone or email — every Saturday afternoon during the summer season through to Heritage Days, and organises concerts four times a year. The church is owned by the municipality and used for worship (https://www.messesinfo.cef.fr, Notre-Dame des Bois-Pays de Louviers parish). The building was listed as a Historic Monument on 17 March 1975.
In liaison with the town hall, it maintains contact with the Historic Monuments authority to define the works required and consults companies for their implementation.
It develops targeted sponsorship, promoted in coordination with the local authority through our contributors and patrons, under the name:
ACQUIGNY, A HERITAGE, A CHURCH, A PROJECT => AHCP
The Association's committee, which brings together around fifty members, is organised as a project team: See the organisation
